Ravel couldn’t believe she was doing this. She hadn’t really processed what “walkies” meant when Alice had said it when she first arrived. She knew literally what it meant, being walked by a leash in public, but she couldn’t believe it was real, and couldn’t believe she would ever do it. Yet, here she was.

Ravel was in one of the outfits she brought for a change. A short one-piece dress in dark purple, one that was great at showing off the starry night printed diaper underneath it, and one that expertly complimented the bright pink chest harness she was wearing over it. Alice was sporting a light blue onesie decorated with pictures of cats playing around with yarn and other cat toys, with plain purple skirtalls. Her harness was black and of a slightly different style than Ravel’s. Ravel’s looked a bit more innocent with a large front panel and comfy look, while Alice’s was more obviously a piece of bdsm gear with shiny black leather with large o-rings connecting all the pieces, and obvious locking buckles. Miguel, of course, was the most modest of the group wearing a video game t-shirt and some jean shorts. Ravel thought briefly that he looked every bit like the daddy of the group, which he was, but anyone standing next to the two obvious baby girls would look like a daddy.

Ravel had gotten used to showing her diaper off in public. Even back home in Alabama such displays were accepted if uncommon. She got a few looks but no one ever said anything, but she never imagined wearing a harness like this in public, much less being walked on a leash. She didn’t think that would go over nearly as well back home.

Her and Alice’s leashes weren’t on yet; they were currently packed away in the white backpack diaper bag Miguel had slung over his shoulders. Alice and Miguel said it would be better to wait until they got into the city to bust the leashes out, right now they were on a train which was slowly making it’s way into the city proper, making several stops along the way.

Ravel’s face was fraught with concern. Alice had said that New York was more accepting of the whole diaper girl thing than Alabama was, especially in the city, and Ravel knew that to be true anecdotally. To lend some credence to what Alice was saying, the group was positively ignored on the train, something Ravel never was back home. She was tolerated, but never went unseen. Here she was profoundly uninteresting to society at large. There were even a few more obviously padded people in the same train car. Still, Ravel couldn’t help but feel like this attitude would change once they put the actual leashes on.

Ravel turned to Alice who met her worried face with a comforting smile. That calmed Ravel down enough to smile back. Even if she was unsure about all of this, she was sure about Alice. Alice had been so kind and patient with her while she was here, and Ravel knew Alice wouldn’t put her in this position if she didn’t know for sure it was safe.

“Nervous?” Alice asked knowingly. Ravel just nodded yes. “Yeah, that makes sense,” she giggled. “It’s your first time. I imagine it’s a bit nerve wracking. I promise though it’s so fun. Just walking around with that constant tug reminding you of your place …” Alice stopped short of getting lost in her thought. “No better way to see the sites I say.” Ravel was still too nervous to respond but she smiled back.

In a few more moments the train came to the group's stop and Alice and Miguel ushered Ravel off of the train. The other thing eating at Ravel today was the sensation that she didn’t belong. The train station she was in now was bigger than any building in Plant City, Alabama. She wasn’t used to the fast pace of the large crowds. Things were just so big and so fast. She was every bit the fish out of water country bumpkin in the big city. Eventually the group did come to a spot away from the hectic flow of crowd traffic to stop. Ravel was still getting used to things as Miguel was digging into the diaper bag.

“You ready?” Alice said with visible excitement. “At first, I’ll hold your leash until you get used to it, then Daddy will hold both of us. That green?”

“Yeah yeah green,” Ravel felt weird saying the word in public. Miguel handed Alice a short chain leash with a pink handle matching the color of Ravel’s harness. Alice approached and with a smirk clipped the leash to a d-ring handing from the large panel of Ravel’s harness. She gave it a quick testing tug and Ravel’s tummy exploded with emotion as she found herself pulled toward Alice. Just like that, Ravel was on a leash being walked. Alice used the tug to expertly bring Ravel in to a hug.

“You got this baby girl,” Alice encouraged. “Come on let’s go little one,” Alice gently tugged again and the group set off.

Alice held the leash delicately in her hands, looking almost regal. Ravel kept pace as best she could, as if preventing the tug of the leash would make it disappear. Despite this, she couldn’t help but get occasionally tugged along as Alice was holding the leash deliberately short.

The group eventually made their way out of the station and Ravel was surrounded by the sounds and sights of the city. Constant honking and car noises and a sky she couldn’t see for all of the sky scrapers around her. Alice had to tug on the leash to get Ravel to snap out of her trance.

“You’re adorable you know,” Alice remarked. Ravel smirked nervously as the group kept walking.

“Of course, we gotta take you to central park,” Miguel said leading the way.

“No better place for walkies,” Alice agreed. “There’s this great little deli nearby. We can pick up some sammies and have a picnic.”

“That sounds nice,” Ravel said shakily.

“Couldn’t pack a blanket cuz I have diapers for two in here,” Miguel said sadly. “But there’s some tables we can use. It’s close enough.” Ravel nodded silently before she found herself being yanked close to Alice who kept her on the short leash as she spoke.

“Ravel look around and tell me what you see?” Alice asked.

“Uhhh buildings,” Ravel responded confused.

“All right that’s fair,” Alice giggled. “But no. Look at all the people around,” Alice clarified. Ravel did so. The streets were packed with throngs of people moving in neat and simultaneously chaotic lanes. “You see any of them freaking out or giving you a weird look?” Ravel nodded no immediately. Nobody was giving her the time of day. It was a bit odd to her actually. No one even offered a small nod in greeting or a friendly hello that was customary back home, but that was somewhat comforting. Even being walked on a leash she was invisible. “So, relax,” Alice encouraged. “You’re fine, no one is bothered by you and no one is gonna bother us. If they do Daddy’ll beat em up.”

“You’re writing checks back there I can’t cash,” Miguel complained. Alice snickered.

“Enjoy yourself, Ravel. You’re a certified cutie getting her first walkies. Have fun.” Ravel smiled. She was still a little nervous but she chose to take Alice’s words to heart. Alice left slack in the leash letting Ravel expand her range and she explored the immediate area around them as they walked. She got steadily more corrective tugs on her leash, and when it came time to cross a road Alice held the leash, and Ravel, close. Ravel found herself stopping sometimes just to feel the gentle tug forward that would come as Alice kept moving, loosing herself a bit in the sensation. It made her feel safe and watched over, and since she was watched over and safe she was free to have fun. The combination of emotions was starting to have a predictable effect as Ravel let out a distinctive giggle.

“There she is,” Alice said quietly to Miguel as Ravel clumsily toddled up to them. “Would you like a paci dear?” Alice asked knowingly. A gentle blush washed over Ravel as she nodded with a smile. “Down boy!” Alice commanded jokingly to Miguel. Miguel rolled his eyes, but squatted down so Alice could dig through the backpack. “Here we go,” she said triumphantly holding her prize. A simple white pacifier on a pink clip. Alice eagerly plopped the soother in Ravel’s mouth and clipped it to her dress collar. “Good girl.” Ravel suckled the pacifier happily.

After walking another block, the view that was once dominated by buildings was suddenly gone and replaced with a view of an almost impossibly large park.

“Oh wow!” Ravel said stunned letting the pacifier fall out of her mouth and get caught by the pacifier clip. “It’s so big,” Ravel continued in wonder. “The pictures don’t do it justice.”

“They really don’t,” Miguel agreed. “Come on let’s get our sammies so we can enjoy it." Ravel skipped up to Miguel only to get tugged back by Alice who was lagging behind a bit.

“Careful little one. Don’t go running off,” Alice gently chided.

“Sorry,” Ravel blushed putting the pacifier back in her mouth. She proceeded at a slower but still enthusiastic pace until they arrived at a small deli situated on the bottom level of a large building sitting on one of the blocks next to central park.

The three entered a small restaurant. Ravel was finally noticed by other people, being in a much more confined and dedicated space. Now though, Ravel was too lost in bliss to really care, and the people around only gave a passing interest anyway.

“What can I get you three?” An older woman approached the cash register behind the counter on hearing more customers come in. Only after she took her place did she notice Ravel. “And look at this cutie,” she said smiling to Ravel. Ravel blushed behind the pacifier and wiggled happily.

“She’s from out of town,” Alice explained. “We’re taking her around to see the sights.”

“Quite the unique method of guiding your tour,” she responded jokingly.

“It’s effective in more ways than one.”

“I’ll bet,” the older woman snickered. “So, what’ll it be.”

“One tblt hold the last t and two of the pb&js,” Miguel answered fishing for his wallet.

“Come one wait over here with me sweetie,” Alice chocked up on the leash and moved herself and Ravel to a nearby table while Miguel finished. He eventually took his own place at their table with three drinks in hand. Ravel tried to reach for one but was cut short as Alice snatched the drink away, quickly retrieving two large baby bottles from the diaper bag and pouring the juice from two of the cups into the bottle. She handed one to Ravel who drank it with a bit of a blush. Alice drank out of the other one seemingly unbothered.

“How are those diapers looking,” Miguel said moving to Alice. Alice gave a sly smirk as Miguel ran a finger under her onesie and into her diaper. “And Ravel,” For Ravel he simple lifted her dress and observed the missing stars on her diaper print. “Soggy, as expected, but you’re not ready for changes yet.”

“You love that line, don’t you?” Alice smiled resting her head in her hands.

“Only as much as you do,” Miguel smiled back.

“Three for Miguel!” a man shouted as he loudly dinged a bell on the counter. Miguel quickly grabbed the sandwiches and Alice stood up with Ravel’s leash in her hands.

“Enjoy it!” the woman behind the counter added as the group left the deli with their food.

“After lunch,” Alice said to the group at large. “I want on my leash too.”

“Getting jelly?” Miguel teased.

“A little.”

“’You’re not ready for a change yet’ always gets you going,” Miguel smiled slyly. Alice elbowed him in his arm but her blush told the story. “I’ll tie you to the table with Ravel. That sound fun?” Alice remained facing forward.

“Yes,” she said as calmly as she could.

“Good girl,” Miguel ruffled Alice’s hair.

The group finally made their way into central park. The atmosphere had an effect on Ravel as she started to bound away being stopped by her leash but only barely.

“Calm down Ravel we can play after we eat!” Alice yelled, but she found herself chasing after Ravel while Miguel looked for an empty table for them. It didn’t take him long. He found an empty wooden picnic table nearby. As he sat down, he looked out to see Alice chasing Ravel who had escaped from Alice and was dragging her leash behind her while she was running around.

Several other pic-nicers were dotted around, and several of those were dressed similarly childishly and were similarly playing around. Ravel wasn’t the only one enjoying “walkies” in the park either, though she was the only one Miguel could spy that had moved on from "walkies" to “runnies.”

“Girls!” Miguel shouted waving. Alice and Ravel both shot tow him and both excitedly ran to his claimed pic-nic table. “Now that we’ve got that out our system we need to eat, and I don’t need either of you running off,” he said holding a set of chain reins in his hands. Ravel and Alice both looked at each other with devilish grins.

Miguel made short work tying both girls to the pic-nic table securely and laying their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in front of them.

“Ok so we gots tonsa stuff we gotta show you while you’re here,” Alice said, her tone noticeably littler than before. “Anything specific you wanna see?”

“Statue of liberty!” Ravel said excitedly, starting to stand up before being forced down by her leash.

“I dunno if we can go to the island, but we can definitely look at it from some binoculars,” Miguel had subtly clipped a pacifier to Alice’s onesie collar. “Thanks Daddy,” she said quickly. “There’s a buncha stuff on the way we can see too,” Alice took a bite of her sandwich and continued with her mouth full. “Mostly big buildings, but famous big buildings.”

“That’s still pretty cool,” ravel said in between her own bites. Miguel sat by idly watching the two slowly fall into little space.
